I just recently found out that my grandpa's cousin died on Iwo Jima. As you can see he was a Marine and just shy of his 21st birthday. I happened to stumble across his name doing some genealogy research. Theodore, or more than likely called Ted, was my grandpa Lefty's first cousin. My mom who was 12 when he died remembers her dad and uncles discussing him. According to the interment records, his parents and family didn't get to bury him until the war was over and his body shipped home - not until 1948. The overwhelming sadness his parents must have felt is unimaginable.
Old men create wars but it's the young men that fight and die in them.
Rest easy.

I may be able to fill in some blanks regarding Theodore Sartori. He was my mother's eldest brother, making my mother Virginia Anne Egan (Sartori)your grandpa's cousin!
